چکیده

To estimate the phylogenetic position of each bacterial species, ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS the nucleotide sequences of the 5S nbosomal RNAs from four Gram-negative marine eubacteria, Vibrio adaptatus, V. This work was supported in part by the following grants; NSF cyclosites, V. hoUisae and V. neocistes were determined by #BSR-8806509, EPA #CR812246 and ONR chemical and enzymatic methods (1). The 5S rRNAs of V. #N00014-86-K0696. adaptatus, V. neocistes and V. cyclosites show very low homologies (69%, 69% and 74% on average, respectively) to REFERENCES those of most other Vibrio species (2), indicating that these three i p ^ y H , Hon.H , Suzulu,K I , Osawa.s and Komagata.K (1987) J species are not true members of the Vibrionaceae. Analysis of gyrB and toxR gene sequences of Vibrio hollisae and development of gyrB- and toxR-targeted PCR methods for isolation of V. hollisae from the environment and its identification.

Isolation of Vibrio hollisae strains, particularly from the environment, is rare. This may be due, in part, to the difficulty encountered when using conventional biochemical tests to identify the microorganism. In this study, we evaluated whether two particular genes may be useful for the identification of V. hollisae. The two genes are presumed to be conserved among the bacterial species (gyrB...

Advanced Microbial Taxonomy Combined with Genome-Based-Approaches Reveals that Vibrio astriarenae sp. nov., an Agarolytic Marine Bacterium, Forms a New Clade in Vibrionaceae

Advances in genomic microbial taxonomy have opened the way to create a more universal and transparent concept of species but is still in a transitional stage towards becoming a defining robust criteria for describing new microbial species with minimum features obtained using both genome and classical polyphasic taxonomies. Here we performed advanced microbial taxonomies combined with both genom...

Phylogenetic relationships of marine bacteria, mainly members of the family Vibrionaceae, determined on the basis of 16S rRNA sequences.

The phylogenetic relationships of 50 reference strains, mostly marine bacteria which require Na+ for growth, were determined on the basis of 600 16S rRNA nucleotides by using reverse transcriptase sequencing. Strains belonging to 10 genera were included (four genera of the family Vibrionaceae, the genus Aeromonas of the family Aeromonadaceae, and the genera Alteromonas, Marinomonas, Shewanella,...

Antibiotic resistance pattern of some Vibrio strains isolated

The present study was aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial resistance and the presence of antibiotic resistance genes in Vibrios spp. isolated from seafood. A total of 72 isolates of Vibrio in 6 species including V. parahaemolyticus, V. vulnificus, V. alginolyticus, V. harveyi, V. mimicus and V. cholerae were examined. The results revealed that all isolates were expressing multiple an...
